Authors Scott Tipton and David Tipton dig in and do some excellent character stuff here, and after reading this issue, I got the feeling that I really knew the crew of this universe, almost as well as I knew the crew of the universe that I’ve watched for decades. This issue in particular spotlights just how ruthless this Captain Picard is, how he leads his crew by both fear and threats and what exactly he’s really up to. Not only is this series set in the Mirror Universe, it manages to bring in characters from the adjacent Star Trek: Deep Space Nine series. For those of you disappointed that Star Trek: The Next Generation never did an episode set in the “Mirror Universe”, you can rest easy.
